Reconstruction

From October 2008 to September 2010, 29,700 reconstruction projects planned by the National Reconstruction Office have started 99.3% and completed 85.2%, with a total investment of 861.3 billion yuan, which has completed 736.59 billion yuan, accounting for 85.6%. The homeless people have moved into new homes, public service facilities have been fully upgraded, and infrastructure has improved significantly before the earthquake.

Rescue

On May 12, the Chengdu Military Region quickly dispatched three helicopters to Wenchuan for rescue. 300 soldiers sent by the Sichuan Military Region. The rescue force dispatched by the Chengdu Military Region to all directions in the disaster area reached 6,100 on May 12. Many troops are on the way.

The Chengdu Military Region sent a first-line command post led by the deputy commander to the vicinity of Dujiangyan, which was blocked by road damage. The relevant troops launched an emergency rescue in Dujiangyan.

May 12

At 19:30, thousands of taxis in Chengdu City spontaneously rushed to the disaster area of Dujiangyan.

20:00, the Aba detachment of the Sichuan Armed Police Corps departed from the Wenchuan disaster area.

20:02 Air Force two Il 76 military transport aircraft took off from Beijing Nanyuan Airport and transported 175 people from the National Earthquake Rescue Team to the disaster area.

May 13

The Third Military Medical University emergency dispatched joint emergency medical team rushed to the Sichuan disaster area. After arriving at the first line of the Deyang disaster area in Sichuan in the early morning of the 13th, the medical team immediately carried out disaster relief work.

1:12 The four military helicopters sent by the Chengdu Military Region Air Force to the Wenchuan County earthquake-stricken area to investigate the disaster were forced to return to the base due to bad weather.

The Fire Department of the Ministry of Public Security dispatched 1060 firefighters and 30 search and rescue dogs from 10 fire brigades in Chongqing to the earthquake-stricken areas in Sichuan to carry out rescue work.

3:00 The Ministry of Public Security urgently transferred 200 medical soldiers from the public security frontier defense force, and deployed 100 medical personnel from the public security fire brigade to form a medical rescue team, and flew to the Sichuan earthquake-stricken area overnight.

At 6:30, the People’s Liberation Army and the Armed Police Force in the disaster-stricken areas have invested 16,760 people, including 11,760 troops and 5,000 armed police. On the 13th, the government used 20 military aircraft to transport troops to the disaster area.

At 7:00, the “Henan Provincial Fire Corps Disaster Relief Emergency Rescue Team” made an urgent departure and went to Sichuan earthquake-stricken areas to carry out rescue work.

At 7:00, the armed police force has invested 13,820 troops in the earthquake-stricken areas and rescued more than 1,800 injured people.

About the 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake

The 5.12 earthquake occurred at Beijing time (UTC+8) on Monday, May 12, 2008 at 14:28:04. According to data from the Seismological Bureau of the People’s Republic of China, the magnitude of the surface wave of the earthquake reached 8.0 Ms and the magnitude of the moment reached 8.3 Mw (according to the data of the US Geological Survey, the magnitude of the moment is 7.9 Mw). The seismic intensity reached 11 degrees. The earthquake wave of the earthquake has confirmed that it has surrounded the earth six times.

The earthquake affected most of China and many Asian countries and regions, Liaoning, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Vietnam, and Pakistan. The 5.12 earthquake severely damaged more than 100,000 square kilometers, including 10 counties (cities) in the severely affected areas, 41 counties (cities) in the hardest hit areas, and 186 counties (cities) in the general disaster areas. As of 12:00 on September 18, 2008, the 5.12 earthquake killed 69,227 people, 374,643 people were injured, and 17,923 people were missing. It is the most destructive earthquake since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.

I am from a province in southwestern China called Sichuan.

Sichuan is a very beautiful and affluent place, we have been living in this comfortable place without any worries, until one day, the sky is falling apart.

At about 2 pm on May 12, 2008, we were in the classroom for the first class in the afternoon, which was an art class. Suddenly the teaching building began to emit intense friction and collision. I was very angry and asked the classmates to stop kicking my chair, but when I looked back, I found that everyone in his classroom was screaming “earthquake” and rushed out of the classroom….
